Hello, Melissa here! Please say hello to my new cookbook… FEEL GOOD :  100 quick and easy recipes to bring a bit of comfort and joy into our kitchens and beyond. Coming 2nd June 2022! FEEL GOOD  is all about exploring how food and cooking makes us feel. Comforted, connected, energised, calmer, grounded, satisfied and soothed and more. I’ve been so excited to share this with you, I’ve been squirreling away on it for the last 2 years and here it is. FEEL GOOD FOOD  is how I’ve long described how I like to cook end eat at home. More and more of us are cooking with both our mental and physical health in mind. So these are my favourite recipes that help me feel supported. Recipes that I turn to when I’m low on energy and want to feel brighter. Recipes that are so easy that they are a joy to cook and make me feel more confident. Food that helps me feel calmer and more grounded and big sharing recipes for when friends come over and I want to spoil them and show them love but also I want to

Jasmine’s 11 Recipes for the Perfect Picnic

As lockdown restrictions ease, one of the safest ways to have a social life that doesn’t include a screen and a wifi connection is to get outside! Keep the groups small, of course, and abide by  distancing measures when meeting up with friends and family for a picnic in the park. Here I’ve put together some of my favourite recipes that are easily packable into your tiffins and Tupperwares for the perfect summer celebration — check out my shop page for eco food storage.

Spinach and Feta Hand Pies (East by West page 211)

Inspired by Greek flavours, these chickpea pastry wonders will steal the show at your picnic. They make a great vegetarian main.

BBQ Basted Veggies With Almond Aioli

Nothing says summer like grilled wares, so I present: BBQ basted veggies with a tangy, garlicky vegan aioli. *chef’s kiss*

Sautéed Buckwheat Sprout Pilau With Harissa and Za’atar

A Middle Eastern-inspired dish sauté dish that works well as a salad for your picnic.

Pickled Red Cabbage With Hazelnuts and Griddled Apple

I love including a pickle in any party spread for an even balance of Tastes — this one’s mix of flavours and textures makes it a sure winner.

Veggie Quinoa BBQ Salad

A lovely filling salad that works as a main or as a side, tossed lovingly with BBQ-grilled asparagus and celery.

The ‘Ooh-Yeah’ Noodle Salad

Make your friends go “ooh yeah” with this slippery, crunchy, veggie, herby, noodle salad.

Parsnip & Chilli Maple Cornbread

Think Tex-Mex flavours with these mini cornbreads — swap Autumnal parsnip for carrot or summer squash like courgette.

Peppery Puy Lentils With Fennel, Olives and Roast Tomatoes

A really easy recipe that looks super impressive and reminds me of Tuscany (though I’ve never been!!).

Orange and Olive Oil Asparagus

This simple recipe that my other half Nick knocked up last year as part of a brunch makes a beautiful picnic offering — try baby fennel or tenderstem broccoli as an asparagus variation.

Dhokla with green chutney (East by West page 229)

These are light as air, sweet and sour squares made from gram flour that are ideal as a starter or a side.

Sweet Almond Cookies

Dessert is sorted! Made from tapioca flour and chickpea flour, these cookies are simple and delicious — add choc chips for kids.
